Disassembly & recycling

In our design process we focus on the ability to disassemble the products for recycling. Which materials are used, how they are combined, and how they are separated into individual parts and sorted for recycling after ended life cycles.

Each design creates a new challenge and some designs are more suited for disassembly than others, but the ECO-dimension is always an integral part of our way of thinking.

Designs for flat packing

We have always loved the simple and logic arguments for flat packing.

The low volume packages reduce the risk of damages, lower costs and reduce CO2 emissions during transportation and storage. Flat packed furniture is great for access, and in-home assembly means increased value as it eases handling from the store through narrow staircases and hallways to the living room. We continuously strive to reduce the impact our products have on nature.

Beside flat packing, we have reduced the use of plastic with more than 20% as well as we have changed to more sustainable packaging alternatives. We are not CO2 neutral, but we keep working hard to minimize our CO2 footprint.

Replacement of spare parts

We urge our users to reconsider before disposing their sofa. We provide the ability to renew spare parts and for some designs washable and detachable covers that can be renewed to prolong a product’s life cycle.

Offering this option encourages to engage in circular consumer patterns instead of purchasing new. Give your Innovation Living product a second life by reusing, refurbishing or repairing it.

Fabric made from
recycled plastic bottles

Vivus, is the name of our OEKO-TEX certified fabric made of 100% post-consumer recycled polyester.
The recycled polyester yarn, is made from recycled plastic waste.

The plastic waste is shredded into flakes by a machine, then melted down into pellets and extruded into yarn. The production of recycled fabric doesn't use as much energy or resources as creating fibers and fabrics from scratch.

Check out the Vivus fabrics here.

Detachable, washable & renewable

In Collection 2021 we have increased our focus on detachable covers as this option makes it easy to choose more delicate textiles and offers the ability to renew the cover at the end of its life cycle.
Simply remove, wash, and put the cover back on again - or replace with a new cover to refresh the look of your sofa.
